All 19 power-ups
Power-ups appear on the arena as coloured circles. Drive through one to take it. The colour tells you who it affects.
Green: helps you
| Power-up | What it does |
|---|---|
| Speed Boost | You move faster. |
| Slow-Mo | You move slower, for tight control. |
| Thin | Your line gets thinner, so you can slip through gaps. |
| Sharp Turns | You turn much tighter. |
| Ghost | No trail, and you pass through lines (not walls). |
| Portal | You can go through a wall and come out the other side. |
| Shield | Survive one crash into a line. Each stack is one more save. |
Red: hits every opponent
| Power-up | What it does |
|---|---|
| Fat | Every opponent gets a thicker line. |
| Speed Curse | Every opponent moves faster. |
| Wide Turns | Every opponent turns much wider. |
| Confusion | Every opponent has left and right swapped. |
| Right Angles | Opponents can only make sharp 90° turns. |
| Blackout | Opponents can only see around their own head. |
| Wobble | Opponents drift from side to side. |
Blue: changes the arena for everyone
| Power-up | What it does |
|---|---|
| Eraser | Wipes every line off the arena. |
| Open Walls | Everyone can wrap through the walls for a while. |
| Power Surge | Three more power-ups appear. |
| Swap | You swap places with a random opponent. |
| Gap Storm | Everyone leaves big, frequent gaps for a while. |
Stacking
Most effects stack: a second pick-up applies the effect again on top of the first, so two Thins make your line half as thick again, and six make it a hairline. Each effect has a ceiling where the arena or the game genuinely runs out of room.
Pairs
Several green power-ups have a red twin that does the same thing to everyone else: Speed Boost and Speed Curse, Thin and Fat, Sharp Turns and Wide Turns.
Which modes use them
- Free For All, 1v1 Duel and Chaos: all 19 (Chaos spawns them constantly).
- Team 4v4 · Thin Only: only Thin.
- Speed Rush: only Speed Boost and Speed Curse.
- Classic: none at all.
The 1995 original, Achtung, die Kurve!, had no power-ups. They arrived with later remakes, and Coil Clash has its own set. More about the original.
Coil Clash is an independent game and is not affiliated with the makers of Achtung, die Kurve! or Curve Fever.
