Coil Clash is a free multiplayer game that runs in your browser and in apps for Android and iPhone. It is made by one independent developer ("we" on this page). This page says what the game keeps about you, why, who else is involved, and how to have it deleted.

Playing as a guest

A guest is not saved. While you play, the server holds the name you picked (or the one rolled for you) and your results in memory, and when you close the game the guest is gone. Match chat is shown to the room and the room keeps its last few lines in memory. Chat is not saved, with one exception: if a player is reported, the last few things they said in that room go into the report for the moderator.

If you make an account

• Your email address, to sign you in, to check it is yours and to reset your password. We only email you about your account: a confirmation link or a password reset. Never marketing.
• Your password, stored only as a scrypt hash. We cannot read it.
• Your player name, stats, ranks, XP and level, credits, cosmetics, VIP, daily streak and missions, when you joined and when you were last on.
• Your friends: your friends list, friend requests, the players you have blocked, and your messages with friends (the last 200 in each conversation).
• What you post: forum threads and replies, and bug reports, which also record the game version, your browser and your screen size so the bug can be found.
• Reports you make about other players, or that others make about you, with what was reported.
• An account key: a random code your browser or the app keeps so you stay signed in.

Your player name, playercard, stats and forum posts are public: other players see them, and the leaderboard shows the top players.

Buying VIP

VIP is bought on the website through Ko-fi. Ko-fi and its payment providers handle the payment, and we never see card details. Ko-fi tells us the email you paid with, the amount and the kind of payment: we use them to switch VIP on for the account with that email, and keep the amount as the record of the purchase. The apps do not sell anything.

Playing on CrazyGames

If you play on CrazyGames and sign in there, CrazyGames gives us your CrazyGames user id, username and picture, and your progress is saved under them. We get no email address from them.

Technical data

Your internet (IP) address is used while you are connected, to limit sign-in attempts and connections from one network. It is not saved with your account. Our server logs record events such as a new account (by player name), a purchase (with the email it was paid with) and errors; they stay on the server and are cleared out automatically over time. The game keeps your settings and your account key in your browser's storage, or the app's. Its fonts come from our own server. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics.

Why we use it

To give you the game and your account, which is the agreement between us when you make one; to keep the game safe and fair (limits on attempts, the swear filter, reports and bans), which is our legitimate interest; and to keep records of purchases, which the law requires.

Who else handles it

• Hetzner Online, in Germany runs the server the game and its database live on.
• Resend sends our account emails.
• Ko-fi, if you buy VIP.
• Discord: new forum posts, bug reports, player reports and purchases are copied into a private Discord channel, so they are seen quickly.
• CrazyGames if you play there, and Google Play or the App Store if you install an app. Their own privacy policies cover what they collect.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Your account stays until you delete it. Deleting it removes it from the live database straight away, together with your friends and your messages. Your forum posts are replaced with "(deleted)". Purchase records keep the amount, and reports keep what was reported, but neither keeps your name. Our nightly backups are overwritten within 14 days.

Deleting your account

In the game: Profile, then Delete my account. Or on the web at coilclash.com/delete-account, with your email and password. If you cannot sign in, contact us from the email address on the account.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to have a copy of it, or object to how we use it: contact us below. If you are in the UK and unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, to your local data protection authority.

Children

Accounts are for players aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly keep data about anyone younger; if you think we have, contact us and we will delete it.
